Shaw, was a sign painter all his l...My father, R.V. Shaw, was a sign painter all his life. He started out lettering trucks and went on to Sign painting. He eventually bought out a Plastic molding sign company and was very successful. He bought a wooden box of Sign lettering books at an estate sale and among those was a First Edition 1927 Studio Handbook by Samuel Welo, First Edition 1950 Scripts by Rand Holub, 1917 Strong's Book of Designs, and First Edition 1943 Practical Perspective Drawing by Phillip J. Lawson from the Pratt Institute. He had many others, but he cherished these and took very good care of them, they are all in perfect or very good condition. Some being First Editions, I was curious as to their worth, and came across the article. Thank you for all the information and your tenacity in researching Mr. Welo.
