Typography: Blackglama 1968–1994

 

The Blackglama advertising campaign, What becomes a Legend most?, began in 1968. The typeface resembles Akzidenz-Grotesk. In 1972, the typeface, Fat Face, was used for the headline and brand name.

Fat Face was designed by Ronné Bonder and Tom Carnase in 1970. Fat Face was offered by Lubalin, Smith, Carnase (LSC). Later, Fat Face became part of the International Typeface Corporation (ITC). In the Photo-Lettering Inc. catalogs, the typeface was known as Fatface.
